Recently, Kat Florence set a world record with the largest unheated Paraíba tourmaline ever sold at auction: 181 carats, cut from an 830-carat rough crystal discovered in Mozambique.

After extracting the 181-carat stone, several “baby” stones were produced from the same crystal. From the remaining material, only flawless, natural, unheated pieces were selected—an almost nonexistent category, as 99.999999% of Paraíba tourmalines worldwide are heat-treated. This unheated variety displays brilliance and intensity comparable to a blue diamond, an extremely rare phenomenon.

Currently, two remaining rough fragments allow for exactly this cut and shape. The final weight is expected to fall between 10 and 12 carats, possibly slightly more, but never below 10 carats after Kat Florence’s masterful cutting.

The earrings incorporate 1.56 carats of D Flawless diamonds, precision-cut by Kat Florence, distributed throughout the design. These diamonds are of substantial size, well over 0.10 ct each, individually valued in the five-figure range per carat; the diamonds alone represent approximately USD 15,000.

In addition, the earrings feature between 10 and 12 carats of Lumina Paraíba tourmaline from the original crystal, of extraordinary and irreproducible quality. This “Baby Lumina” collection is exclusive, reserved only for Kat Florence’s anniversary and the major September exhibition. After this occasion, these pieces will never be seen again.
